About Legend Aircraft

New Ownership – The Legend aircraft has been dormant for too long and we are pleased to announce that after being sequestered for 15 years, production of this great airframe will once again become available in Q1 of 2018.  Effective Jan 1st, 2018, Legend Aircraft will be under new Ownership and we are committed to providing the very best Quality & Value in a high performance ‘kitplane’ aircraft.

For the very first time in Legend’s 20 year history, you can order a kit and have it flying within 12/mo’s of receiving it. This is possible as the majority of the composite work is done for you, and with available firewall forward and pre-wired panel and avionics packages, the expected build time is just 1500/hours.  It is our goal to have the primary aircraft structure assembled, on its gear, with controls in-place and the engine mounted within the first 6/mo’s, leaving you the remaining time to complete the work on your new Legend.

The Legend HISTORY

The Legend is a streamlined low-wing monoplane mainly constructed of carbon-fiber-reinforced polymer. It has swept-back tail surfaces with a mid-mounted tailplane and tapered wings with optional winglets.

The Legend is a streamlined low-wing monoplane mainly constructed of carbon-fiber-reinforced polymer. It has swept-back tail surfaces with a mid-mounted tailplane and tapered wings with optional winglets. The prototype (N620L) was powered by a 575/hp Chevrolet V-8 engine with a three-bladed prop and a ventral radiator air-scoop, whereas the Turbine Legend has a 724/shp Walter M601 turboprop with a three-bladed prop and a ventral oil cooler air-scoop.

Prototype Turbine Legend

The Legend has a retractable tricycle landing gear (the mainwheels retract inwards and the nosewheel rearward), and the enclosed cockpit has room for two persons in tandem seat configuration with full dual controls and a rear-hinged, upward-opening, canopy with a fixed windscreen.  Performance Aircraft first flew the Legend in 1996, and the prototype was converted from piston to turbine power in 1999.
